Kiana.K.Art is officially a business!
There is something incredibly strange and inspiring about looking at something that started as a place to share my art and realizing that I can officially call it a business. Kiana.K.Art has existed for a long time. I’ve taken commissions, shared things I've created, experimented with more mediums that I can probably count, and slowly figured out what I want this little corner of my life to become. But making it official somehow feels different.
A year ago I never imagined I would be where I am today with two officials businesses, Kiana.K.Art and The Tulip Collective LLC. Kiana K Art has really formed into something beautiful in creating meaningful connections for those in the community who attend art therapy groups and learn to use art as a therapy for what they are dealing with at the time, as well as those who come to me to make their commission dreams a reality. Now here I am learning to create a website to reach more people across the world and hopefully sell more of my work on a larger scale. I can’t wait to see where I am a year from now. My hope is to be hosting non therapy art workshops at local businesses, creating more art therapy groups within the mental health system, and selling a wide range of work to share my passions with as many people as possible. I may not know where this will be in one year or five years but I am starting to thing that’s part of what makes this exciting!
I’m excited. I’m proud. I’m also anxious and nervous.
There is something safe about calling something a hobby. Once you decide to take it seriously, suddenly there are registrations, taxes, pricing, websites, business cards, marketing, interacting with so many different types of people, and all these things have nothing to do with sitting down and making art.
and yet, underneath all of that, I’m still just someone who really loves creating and seeing peoples reactions to such creations.
So here’s to making it official.
To taking something I love seriously without taking the joy out of it. To trying things before I feel completely ready. To letting ideas change and grow. and to seeing where this little art page takes me next.
Kiana.K.Art is officially a business — and somehow writing that still doesn’t feel completely real.
